Vertical Values

Go therefore and make disciples

4 Pillars- The foundational essentials of a Vertical Church

UNAPOLOGETIC PREACHING
Proclaiming the authority of God’s Word without apology
"Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching." 2 Timothy 4:2

UNASHAMED WORSHIP
Lifting high the name of Jesus through worship
"God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:24

UNCEASING PRAYER
Believing firmly in the power of prayer
"Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints." Ephesians 6:18

UNAFRAID WITNESS
Sharing the good news of Jesus with boldness
"And also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak." Ephesians 6:19-20

4 W's- The practices of every disciple

Everyone who authentically follows Christ goes through a continual process—sanctification. Which simply means we’re becoming more and more like Jesus. Around Vertical you’ll hear that described by the 4 W’s. We believe that every Christian does these 4 things: Worship Christ, Walk with Christ, Work for Christ and Witness about Christ.  When we’re intentional about honoring God in these ways, we can’t help but become “mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28)—growing deeper in our relationship with Him and our relationships with others.

Disciple-making is worked out together in our ministry to one another. It’s not about one or a small number of pastors bearing the full responsibility to care for our church (Ephesians 4:11-12). Rather it’s about all who follow Christ  ministering to each other, in the context of our Christ-centered church.

How do we do this at Vertical? It happens most effectively through our Small Group Ministry. We want everyone who calls Vertical their home to take part in a small group. These are regular times of meeting together where the Scriptures are opened, lives are shared, and prayer is happening. Small group ministry even takes place within our Student and Children’s Ministries.
